On the eastern side of the Parish is Slidell which has more navigable waterfront homes than anywhere else in Louisiana. Not only does Slidell offer planned communities of luxury homes along man-made canals, there are a surprising number of Bayou Waterfront Homes homes surrounded by LA nature and wildlife. (Yes, we have alligators here.)
Just to the west of Slidell is Lacombe. While the north side of Hwy 190 is mostly high and dry, to the south of the highway are bayous and raised camp style homes – a true fisherman’s paradise. Whether you choose to live here year-round as so many do, or just come to enjoy the weekends, it is definitely a lifestyle all its own.
Where I-12 meets Hwy 190 are the communities Covington on the north and Mandaville to the south. These are two of the fastest growing areas in the parish with new business enterprises springing up at a steady rate.
A unique little town just east of Covington is Abita Springs. This is a family community of modest homes, churches, and little league baseball. On most Saturday evenings you can hear local musicians at the Abita Brew Pub. . . or just stop by on the weekend for a cold Abita Beer when bike riding the St Tammany Trace.
Whatever your lifestyle, from large homes on golf courses, or small cottages in Old Town Slidell, St Tammany Parish has it all.
